Dr Michael Dockery is a Research Fellow with the School of Economics and Finance at Curtin University of Technology and an associate of HURIWA and the Centre for Labour Market Research (CLMR). Mike's principal expertise is the analysis of applied issues in labour economics, but he has also undertaken research in a wide range of areas involving both quantitative and qualitative research methods. His thesis for the award of Doctorate of Philosophy comprised 7 published papers on the topic of the evaluation of labour market assistance programs.�� His Doctoral and associated research has involved the application of longitudinal (panel) data analysis to applied labour market issues, working for clients such as the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Department of Family and Community Services and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research.
His current research focuses upon the school-to-work transition; the effects of work and other labour market experience on ‘happiness’ and ‘wellbeing’; Indigenous labour market and social outcomes and the effects of housing assistance on labour market outcomes. Mike has published papers in journals such as the International Labour Review, International Journal of Manpower, Economic Papers, the Australian Bulletin of Labour, Australian Journal of Labour Economics and the Australasian Journal of Regional Studies, plus a variety of monographs.
